hi all. seeing as i have plenty of time on my hands due to holidays im thinking of traveling down the south east coast of england. im hoping to collect quite a lot of flint while im there as it will be my only chance. i live in south wales, so could anyone maybe recommend the nearest place west to find some, instead of driving of all the way to dover. beachy head maybe? thanks everyone

South Downs if you can get there. My cottage is build of the stuff. Every footpath and field edge round me is littered with one to two foot wide nodules.

Seaton. It's one of the few places in the West Country with knappable stone. Some lovely black flint and (IIRC) some good grey chert. Choose carefully though, the stuff that's been banging around in the surf a while is full of microfractures.
