first potato crop of the year?

Being spring, and a few days of sunshine transformed swmbo into a cleaning machine again. Whilst clearing out one of the units in the kitchen she found this at the back..... a poor lonely potato that had hidden in a corner for goodness how long.

I've often seen potatoes with eyes and even 'chitting' shoots but never with a new crop starting! Anyone else experienced this strange situation?

never got the chance to find out mate! - no sooner as I had taken the pic they were 'tidied' away! (into the compost bin)

I guess as all the goodness they got was from the initial potato they wouldn't be that great... well that is what I'm consoling my self with anyway
