Spotted my first Hedgepig tonight. Watched it go into a bag of garden waste, and it looked like it was snaffling a baby mouse? Would they do that?

They are so numerous now that they are causing great damage to the ecology. Ground nesting birds in particular.

In very sharp decline in most of the UK; in the order of 50% in twenty years. They are only really a nuisance to nesting birds in confined areas such as Uist in the Western Isles where they are trying to eradicate them (They're not native to the Islands).

We have greenfinches. Not in abundance, but they are visiting our feeders. I will try to get a picture. We weren’t sure about hedgehogs, but our trail cam did catch one on it’s way to our ‘wild’ section of the garden, late one night in the autumn. We’re hoping he/she is OK in the brash pile that is there.
