Made my first ever carved knife handle out of a piece of drift wood and an old blade I had. Handle of blade was bent so had to shape around it took a while as never done anything like this before its not as good as some of the self made gear on this forum but I tried and I'll definitely be sticking to doing carving absolutely loved doing it. I've still got to use oil or something to smarten it up any suggestions?

Hey, just stumbled on this - that's great for the first thing you've done. It's always very satisfying when you start getting the hang of something new, eh? If you haven't already tried a finish, get some walnut oil from a supermarket or healthfood shop, cheap as chips, and just rub some into the wood with your hands, leave to dry, and do that as often as you like 'till it looks right to you. A cheap and clean way to finish all wood projects, and food safe too!..........All the best, mac
