firelighting with teasles

just tried firelighting using teasles with flint and steel
not very good on there own but if you get a load they burn well

Have a look at 'Fire stick made easy'. Break open the teasle (I like to scatter the seeds in the area they are growing), use a small piece - spines uppermost. It works a treat.

Yes they are. Never carried any as tinder, but they are very spikey so try anf remember you have put one in your pocket.... if you don't.... ouch!!!

I have just realised why i find it so hard getting fires alight with a fireflash. I didnt have a woodlore. They shower sparks like nothing you have ever seen, one strike and it will light anything.
