I have noticed that in a number of videos on the subject of firelighting quite a number of people doing the demonstration, fail to scrape the woodland floor, clear of duff and dry leaves. OK. The ground may have been wet, but there is no evidence of this in the videos that this is the case, and for newer members this does not look good practice. I am not getting at any particular individuals, merely stating that this has come to my attention, a good practice is to clear the site of the intended fire, down to the bare earth particularly in dry conditions. OK lecture over ! Any comments welcome as there are always alternative views.
