Just thought I would share this with you. I was asked by a customer who already has some of my knives if I would consider making him a Golok based on the Martindale, he wanted it from O1, shorter than the Martindale but heavier, and with a scandi grind.

I always like making new & different things, so I decided to take up the challenge. This was the largest knife I had made so far, and was very happy with the result, as was my customer when he collected it this morning.

I made it from 5mm stock, was 16.5" (420mm) overall with an 11" (280mm) blade. I drilled several lightening holes in the handle end to push the weight forward. The scales are Boxwood, which I had never used before, but turned out to be one of the nicest woods I have worked with.
It weighs in at approx 600g (760g with sheath).

I dont know what the difference is between a Golok /Machette or Parang other than they could be from different regions ? Maybe someone could enlighten me on that ?

Anyway here are some pictures for you to look at.
