Been on this spoon train and can't seem to get off. (Though I am getting the bug to make something sharp with steel.) Three recent ones here. First is mesquite. Other two are ash.
Thank you! You guys are an encouraging group. Mesquite, the chip carving just developed on its own. It's still nerve-racking to carve a spoon you like and then risk botching it up by chip carving on the handle.
The style certainly has become distinctive.
Your chip carving skill is a welcome design element. Getting the cuts to meet in the bottom is a key = good.
Just me = I like the connection of earth-tone stains, (even greens) with the wood.
