For a number of years, I have had a Bushman knife as my EDC bush knife. Anyway, love the knife but really didn't get on with the sheath at all (it was loose and I was always worried about losing my knife).

So...I asked Tiffers (a member here but mainly on British Blades) to make me a new sheath

I wanted a friction fit sheath, with a firesteel loop, but I also wanted a DC4 diamond / ceramic stone built into a pouch. Lastly I wanted a "double" belt loop, so I could wear the knife in a traditional high on the belt style or low if wearing a bergen with hip belt. I hate a "flappy" sheath when wearing it low, so a loop was added to put a tie down thong on when wearing low. Finally, my trail mark (the wizards hat) was put on the front of the sheath at Tiffers suggestion.

Ladies and gents...if you ever want the nicest leather work you have ever seen - try Tiffers! Pictures below of what she achieved based on my rubbish description of what I wanted.

I have handled hundreds of sheaths over the years. Clearly I like this because it ticks all the right boxes for me in design terms (you may hate the design), but mostly because the quality of the leatherwork is staggering.

That is really good, in fact great :) The wizard hat looks like it sticks out, does it or is it engraved in?
themac,

It is indeed a raised design...Tiffers calls it "paulting" - dunno how she does it but I think its pretty clever!

Secrets? Who said anything about secrets??? I think what I do is just an englishised version of whats often seen on scandinavian sheaths :) Just with a different leather, natural veg tan rather than the scandi stuff.

Basically while the knife is in the sheath (oiled and wrapped in clingfilm) I start using one of the moulding tools from brisa and start pushing the leather about :) Only the top surface moves around and you can use that loose section to create any pattern you like :) The other benefit of this is that it compresses the fibres down which makes the leather harder, closes the pores gives it a nice shine :)

Give it a go on a scrap, make yourself a keyring or tag!
