Song bird numbers have noticeably dropped over the last few years where I live, however most people attribute that to a huge increase in air pollution. New buildings and malls have been constructed that block the flow of air across parts of the city (Budapest) but where that flow still exists song birds may still be found.

Additionally we have colonies of Beech Martens living in the loft spaces and attics hereabouts and I'd imagine they probably have an impact too.
