Hi, no kids this weekend, so Alison, Nutmeg and i went for a lovely walk to Fairy Glen, and, as i am lazy and had left the marquee! Erected in our usual haunt decided to camp out, anyway the scenery was stunning, the weather was good and we had a magic day and night.
Fairy Glen, is actually and old traders track, where farmers brought their wares, from Manaton to Bovey Tracey once a month in exchange for cash other goods and to pick up supplies for the following month, when i was a kid it was very narrow, but with timber extraction etc, it is now a lot wider etc, as you can see the bridges are very small and narrow, just for horse and cart (see idiot for scale) But a largely unspoilt and naturally beautiful place, it is called Fairy Glen by locals, As fairies have been see playing there.
It's now actually called Houndtor Woods, quite why i am not sure as Houndtor is some miles away, even as the crow flies.
Anyroad up! We had a great day out saw lots of wildlife (camera always in pocket) Roe deer, squirells, rabbits,a redstart, dippers, and a wood ants house build under construction and i did catch a mistle thrush with a mouth full of worms.
Then back to the woods, lit the fire, bit of grub a few beers and a lovely nights sleep, you can't beat it you know!
Thanks for looking.
