Hiya guys
Now in the kit chatter section there is a thread that asks what essential kit the op should buy. Now the problem comes when u ask this question cos each person is different.
for instance I don't like to rough it so a walk in lightweight camp would be a nightmare and as anyone who has been to middlewood meets will know i like my comforts
So for instance I see hammock and tarp set up as essential but also require a bell tent so i ask the question what is your minimal essentials list

I follow the Finnish tradition not to carry too much items with me and instead make most of them in situ. Thus my essentials (minus food and clothing that can have a double use as essentials) are as following:

- Axe (if to Lapland or some other remote place)
- Backpack
- Firesteel
- Loue (a kind of a tarp, have a pattern if you're interested)
- Maps and compass
- Puukko (a knife)

This is my most recent loadout. http://thesecretcamper.blogspot.com/2011/05/lightweight-backpacking-loadout.html Comfort is a very subjective thing. I was comfortable the whole time, the only two unnecessary items were the seat pad and the sandals, but they made a big difference for the trip and were used multiple times. The hardest thing to do when packing is to leave the 'just in case items'. From this loadout I dropped the multitool, and I should have dropped the mora.
