hi,
i just finished stretching a recently eggtanned (smeared with warm water/egg yolk) rabbit skin with the fur on, but it hasnt really gone to plan (still a little bit rawhidey)do i need to smoke it to stop it from rotting or will it still work as rawhide?
thanks
monty

By rawhidey, do you mean crispy? If you want to keep the fur on, and don't want to work the skin any more, then smoking it now will certainly help preserve it. If you want a soft hide, then you can re-wet it, re-scrape it, re-egg it and re-soften it, but the fur is more likely to slip the second time of working.
