I am toying with the idea of making my own knife....or that is putting one together using a full tang carbon steel blade and carving my own handel. What i need to know is what the best method is in attaching the blade to the handle, drill a small hole and ram it home? I also would like to know if there are any definite no no's with the type of wood to use?

Nice to know if anyones done one themself.

Silkstone, Blighty!
Take a look over at British Blades. I've had a quick interest look, but they seem to be just as helpful as the folk here at BCUK, so somebody there will help you out. Good luck with your project, get some photos up when you're done, I'm sure everyone will want to see it.
