And since you are hurt and wounded by my post Ive removed the offending sentance.

Wrong!! I would have listened and sold it - which is what I actually did in the end. Because that was the sensible option.

It is interesting to quote someone's post and stating that it was not targeting that person post. I think you should not feel sorry about me being sensitive because I am not. I just can not tolerate rude and passive aggressive behaviour. You better be sorry for yourself and your behaviours.

I spoke to Longstrider last night and he said he is definitely still taking sharpening jobs, anyone who needs to contact him just needs to drop him a PM here, and that someone with an M4 had just made contact from BCUK. So, looks like this is all resolved now.

Waking this one up as I have an M4 in Magnacut and require the same convexing of the bevel. When I bought a Lionsteel Rasul several years ago, Molletta was offering convex or bevelled versions on the forums. I bought a convex and already had the bevelled version. The convex, in my opinion, was the better blade.

The M4 is the closest thing I’ve found to a Rasul, so @C_Claycomb, any idea if Ian is still sharpening? I lost his details long ago.

Cheers, will do. How’s the convex working for you, has it improved versatility? I’d like better wood shavings and feather sticks, but I do baton an outdoors knife. Not smashing it through the big stuff, I chipped a BRKT Canadian doing that, a knot twisted the blade and took out a thumbnail sized chunk. I briefly looked into Magnacut steel and it seems it takes a convex pretty well.

@gra_farmer, yes it was the ESSE3 that chipped easily, that 1095 didn’t like being taken to such a fine convex. It’s been good as gold since you got it back to a nice edge, lives in my dog walking and picnic daysack.

Good to know. Now, if you could get your lump hammer out and find a chunk of well seasoned Yew for further testing…

Yew? Pah. I can choose between 25 year seasoned box, or 15+ year Osage orange….and I know better than to try to split stuff like that with a whittling /food prep knife.
