Eating Alder catkins- any one tried it?

yep, it's a wee green munchy :D

Someone was asking about these last year too and posted something about cooking them in a pot of water.

Tbh I suspect that they're a bit like acorns and elders.....every single tree tastes a wee bit different. Some are astringent, some sweeter, some so tanniny that they're a 'no'.
Try and see :D

update: I like em! Picked a few at the weekend, by themselves a wee bit bitter but dried and then crumbled on cheese on toast they were really lovely and nutty. Like the slightly crunchy texture too.
