Personally I was hoping to do something simpler, like tapping a birch tree. Oh, and looking for red deer antlers!

write aTutorial "how too do..." on one of the skills that you already excel at, carve a tea spoon and a table spoon from a skip raided bit of wood. make charcoal.

Funny you should mention pop can stove

The ones I've made in the past have been pants I think 12-13 mins is the best time I've boiled 0.5l , but like they say, if at first........

PS my project this weekend is crawling under floorboards trying to find a leak in my radiator system

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I think im going to finish off a birch bark container first, then see about making a bow and arrow. Making a pump drill sounds like a good idea too! Then i'll carve a spoon and to keep me going i'll cook my dinners on a fire! ....So yea! lots to be getting on with

You could try burning some charcloth for Silvergirl (which I promised to weeks ago and have been too busy)..taking the top off too soon and watching the whole lot go up

how about making your garden more wildlife freindly ? so far i have put in a mini pond, made a log pile, and planted lots of nice plants inclding a blackberry bush

You can get them a lot quicker than that, that looks like the start of a "Don Johnson's Photon Stove" by the amount of holes and the spacing, you can make them more effective by changeing the size of the vent holes.

If you make them smaller like the mini photon then they burn very hot very quickly and are a lot more effective.

I am heading into epping forest myself in the morning with a few tools, not sure what I will do yet, collect some wood, firebow,blade test and play as usual of course, experiment a bit, take pics, See what happens....
