Dying leather...I dont think boot polish will do it.

Friend wanted a new bit for her saddle, "Dont worry, I will dye it black..."

She is now unhappy as boot polish will absorb in the back but not the front...

I think she should use some proper leather dye.

Vinegaroon will colour right through the leather. I've just dyed a dog collar that I am making for a friend and it has come out great - will post pics when I finish it off

Not rusty nails? I have no steel wool

its meant to be iron not steel, but im sure it would work... when i made my batch i used angle iron left it for a month and swished it around every night, works very well and totally natural.

let us know how you get on... :)

Hoo, I went to see my friend and she triumphantly showed me her fitting...all black.

She used Dylon.

So thats £5 for a scrap of leather and about 2 mins work...
