It’s taken me a while to get round to uploading some pictures of this trip, but back in April some friends and I decided we would have a go at the loch Doon grand tour.
For those who don’t know, this tour is around 18 miles of trad canoeing. Encompassing flat and moving water, long (and difficult) portages and lots of camping. It’s usually completed in 3-4 days depending on river levels and conditions.
We decided to complete the route anti-clockwise as normal. It was a really good trip and we had great weather, it was a little windy on one day meaning rafting the canoes using a log we chopped. And lack or rain meant we ended up portaging Carrick lane rather than paddling it but that just means a return trip is necessary.
