Used garden saw blades seem well heat treated and tempered from the factory. Just cut them with the angle grinder, sharpen and put some handles on them.
They keep carving sharp edges well and work well. Cost? £0.00

I love the personalised handles too.

How are you mounting the blades?

At my old company The work often needed sharp knives about 4-6" long. Maybe buy kitchen knives which wore down (with excessive sharpening) in months. Or use lengths of broken or worn out industrial band saw blades. They used to buy £7 silverine IIRC machetes but then used the bandsaw blade hack. Works very well indeed and it is only scrap otherwise.

Found another rusty saw blade from the garden shed tool box this morning.

Cut it into half, grinded on the electric grinder for 5 minutes, and sharpened on the DC4.
Mounted on the £29 multi tool (Made in China), and it also works great for wood carving.

Yes, this is it. Great savings and recycle as much as possible for the planet.
