I had used a similar design but made from very thin plywood (3 ply I think).

My latest version is shown below (bottom piece, I have yet to make the top one), I'm looking at making it as a double decker using old thin pipe to join two bits together with shock cord hence the four holes in each corner, if used individually there is also a hole in the middle near the outside edge for a stick to help support it.

Very solid but held in place just with paracord! Been up a year now and the bird record stands at 3 fat woodies on at once
