Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Im so tempted to get some kinda digi cam. All I know of is Marpat, Cadpat and ACU. Are there any other kinds? Any UK stockists? Is there any digi cam thats particularly drab to suit the UK terrain?
in some tests I saw done by some UK airsofters, the best digital for woodland was woodland marpat. cadpat was also very good but often too dark, ACU was c**p. Almost glowed in the woods, but was very good for urban.
Multicam (though not digital) often worked well in summer and early autumn, being more an arid camo, and also worked well in an urban environment. It usually lost out to marpat and cadpat in woodland and fields though.
The suprise winners out of them all though: DPM and OD. KISS in action both worked very well in british woodland and fields, the OD also being suprisingly effective in urban areas
Hope that helps some
DPM dosn't seem drab enough. Im thinking of doing an experiement by dipping my Dutch DPMs in olive green dye. I reckon it would drab up the heavy yellow and subtle the brown.
I love the old Denison smocks though. There just so hard to get, I think there still in service in India.
Im growing to accept the new digital camo though...kinda like the look of it.
You could try the Danish pattern (flecktarn is not digicam) or Latvian (Latcam? Like a much bigger digicam pattern). The new USAF style too?
There is a new non-digicam out in the US which is supposedly as good in foliage as it is in the desert - Multicam. They have some stuff on the UK Soldier of Fortune military kit site http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/ (not the US magazine site).
Description below:
The MultiCam pattern is a Multi Environment Camouflage system, which was developed by Crye Precision in co-operation with the US Army Natick Soldier Research Center, as an experiment to determine whether a single camouflage pattern could be effective in limiting the visual and near-IR signature of a person across a wider range of environments and seasons.MultiCam takes on an overall green appearance when under a green forest canopy and an overall tan look when in the open desert. By adapting to varying local lighting conditions, the MultiCam pattern blends well in many environments, elevations, seasons, weather conditions, and times of the day.
