Did you know...Stomach acid is strong enough to dissolve stainless steel

Your stomach digests food thanks to highly corrosive hydrochloric acid with a pH of 2 to 3. This acid also attacks your stomach lining, which protects itself by secreting an alkali bicarbonate solution. The lining still needs to be replaced continually, and it entirely renews itself every four days.

Did you know..... It takes 8 minutes, 19 seconds for light to travel from the Sun to the Earth

In space, light travels at 300,000 kilometres (186,000 miles) per second. Even at this breakneck speed, covering the 150 million odd kilometres (93 million miles) between us and the Sun takes considerable time. And eight minutes is still very little compared to the five and a half hours it takes for the Sun’s light to reach Pluto.

Did you know Horseshoe Crabs have Blue Blood.

Limulus Polyphemus —the Atlantic horseshoe crab—has extremely valuable blood. Unlike the blood of vertebrates, horseshoe crabs do not use hemoglobin to transport oxygen throughout their body. Instead, they use hemocyanin, a chemical that gives their blood that distinctive blue color

Did you know.... There are more trees on Earth than stars in our galaxy.

NASA experts believe there could be anywhere from 100 billion to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, based upon Snopes reports. However, a 2015 paper published in the journal Nature estimated that the number of trees around the world is much higher: 3.04 trillion.

Did you know..... Hot water freezes faster than cold water.

This fact seems counterintuitive, but it’s called the Mpemba effect, after a Tanzanian student named Erasto Mpemba who told his teacher that a hot mixture of ice cream froze faster than a cold one. Scientists now believe this is because the velocities of water particles have a specific disposition while they’re hot that allows them to freeze more readily. If proven correct, this finding could also have implications in daily life, like cooling down electronic devices.

Did you know.... Cold water heats up faster than hot water.

The researchers who investigated the cause of the Mpemba effect made this discovery as well. They unsurprisingly named the phenomenon the inverse Mpemba effect

Did you know.... Humans accidentally created a protective bubble around Earth.

Decades of use of very low frequency (VLF) radio communications have resulted in an artificial cocoon that could help protect the planet from solar flares and radiation particles.

Did you know..... A new state of matter exists (alongside solid, liquid and gaseous states) and it is known as time crystals.

Created in the lab, the outrageously hard-to-grasp time crystals are structures that repeat periodically in time rather than space, potentially defying the laws of physics.

Did you know..... Your appendix might not be a useless organ after all.

Research suggests it might play a role in the immune system as a secondary defensive organ, acting as a “safe house” for helpful gut bacteria.

Did you know..... It is theoretically possible to travel back and forth in time.

Two physicists developed a mathematical model for a time machine based on Einstein’s theory of relativity (which was proven in 2015), that gravitational fields are caused by distortions in the fabric of space and time. What’s holding us back is that the technology that can physically bend this space-time fabric hasn’t been invented yet.

Did you know.... Humans are still evolving.

Researchers tracking eight million mutations found that a number of genes – such as the one that predisposes you to Alzheimer’s disease – are gradually being filtered out of human DNA. Not really a surprise.

Did you know The words Sarcasm and Sarcophagus are etymology related.

Sarcasm from Late Latin sarcasmus, from late Greek sarkasmos " sneer, jest, taunt, mockery," from sarkazein "to speak bitterly, sneer," " to strip off the flesh with the tongue. "

Encrypted Housing

In the sleepy town of Newent located between Gloucester & Ross-On-Wye known largely for it's annual town fair and eating raw onions as a sport hides a cryptographic mystery in plain sight. Passed by several hundred schoolkids and countless locals over the years few notice the strange brickwork of the bungalows in Ackermans Orchard. You can see it for yourself on Google street view.

Some say the property developer died without children leaving his wealth to whoever solved the riddle. Others say it was just a drunken bricklayer. All we know is that nothing is as random as this seems.
