Hello there,

After an eventful venture into the world of camping in a tent, I have decided to become a tree dweller and live under tarp and on hammock.

Having a browse on this forum, most opt for the DD hammock and tarp. Is there any reason for this?

Are there alternatives to the DD hammock?

And what is a hammocking experience like, a pain to set up and pack away?

I was a ground dweller for as long as I can remember, discovered an affordable way to start hammocking (DD Frontline) loved it and progressed to a Hennessy (very recently!!) and have just ordered a 'Britbonnet'. Try it once if you can....it doesn't suit everyone!

I have a DD Frontline and DD Tarp. I think they are excellent value for money and a proven bit of kit.

Cannot comment on other types of hammock as I have no experience.

They are a bit a pain to put up the first few times, trying to get the lay of the hammock right for your personal preference. After you have put them up a couple of times its a breeze to do so.

Once you get all your tarp setup memorised and learn to put it away properly it's easier than a tent to put up and the hammock is just the same, I can put a hammock and tarp and, build the honey stove and get a water on for a brew before a lot of my mates can put up a 2 man dome tent! :D

I haven't tried the travel hammock but I have 4 Frontlines for the family and I which should tell you something about what I think about them. Great quality and really comfy.
