Looks like I may be prevented to go to Snowdonia or the Peak District. Public transport looks like its too expensive and awkward.
Think taking days out locally in forest areas instead of :camping:will teach me alot?:sadwavey:

Just a thought but how about asking on BCUK for a lift from your home town to somewhere near Snowdonia? There are peeps going around the country with work all the time and you might be able to blag a lift from someone going in that direction that's on the forum.

Thats my problem aswell, currently i dont drive and to get to north wales its a 30£ return per person, 22 irc for young -uns so just for a two nighter im looking at £52 :(

Absolutely, bimbles are a fantastic means of learning and a big plus is that you don't need to lug as much about  . Although overnighters make it easier* to observe nocturnal wildlife, you spend most of the dark hours asleep ~ and what are you actually learning when you're asleep?

* Equally, there's nothing stopping you doing early or late bimbles ;) .

i would have advised smaller local trips rather than a big one anyway. then hopefully you will be more confident in using sharp tools.
good luck with whatever you do.
