Nicking someone (on here) else's New Year resolution, I want to try a sleep outside at least one night every month this year.

Since Middlewood is out for me due to work :( are there any Cumbrian's who fancy meeting up for an overnighter one Friday or Saturday? I haven't really got anywhere in mind (need to check if I still have access to the site I was going to use), so I'm open as to location.

I`ll be up for some of that schwuk but not for a month or so, I`ve got a few trips planned already so I need to rack up some more brownie points with SWMBO first.

Well I'm planning at least one a month, so we should be able to meet up at some point. :) ...and I know where you're coming from with the brownie points!

I now have a promising lead on a site for this, and I'm trying to sort out some dates. I suspect it will end up being one of the weekends (excluding the first or last) in March now.

Looks like this is a go. :)

Here's the site:
250 acres, so plenty of room to bimble/explore.

We can have our pick of weekends in March (barring the first or the last, basically because I'm busy :)). There's no open fires - we have to use their altar fires (it's a Scout site in case you didn't look), and they're OK with natural shelters - as long as they're destroyed before we leave - and tarps/tents, but not hammocks . I've got to admit, that's a new one on me - it's normally natural shelters we have to beg permission for...

So, out of the following dates, which would be the preference:
  • 6-8th March
  • 13-15th March
  • 20th-22nd March
It would be a (late-afternoon) Friday to Sunday job.

Wha??? No hammocks? Excluding the "because it's their site and they can" explanation, is there any feeling as to why this is the case? Like many, I use treehuggers and you would have to look hard to see I'd even been there. Could it be that they have a preconceived idea about hammock damage that could be dispelled with some education?

13-15th would be first choice for me, followed by 20-22nd. Can't make 6-8th at all.

I know GT well - a great site.
