Cub camp Trench Fire Cooking

Title says it all...district cub camp and yours truely and Miss S set up a Trench fire so the cubs could get their bacon cooked.

Cooking up a storm...under the watchful eye of Miss Stovie...

The turf was replaced and all made good afterwards...another pleasant weekend...

Makes me think back 47 years when I had my first solo camp on Epsom common and a tin of beans on the fire, they were blooming hot, but real tasty.

A greenfield site, Simon. The land was kindly loaned by our county scout president.

The turf from the trench was replaced when finished...good as new...

Lucky man...I've only just managed to get access to a greenfield site and haven't taken the Scouts there yet...soon though, very soon

Rule 9.57 Nights Away Permits
a. There are four categories of permit:
 Indoor – for staying in a building that has
toilets plumbed into a waste disposal
system (i.e. a cess pit, storage tank or
mains drains) and access to running
drinking water;
 Camp Site – for staying at a site that has
toilets plumbed into a waste disposal
system (eg. a cess pit, storage tank or
mains drains) and access to running
drinking water;
 Green Field – for staying at any site
where any of the above facilities do not
exist – for example, a summer camp on
a farmer’s field;
 Lightweight Expedition – for planning on
staying at any site for not more than one
night before moving on. The core activity
is a form of expedition, not residential,
and all the equipment is transported with
the participants. eg. QSA/DofE hikes,
expedition hikes, canoe expeditions:
b. Those holding a Green Field Permit may
lead residential events in the other three
categories.
