crusader question

last xmas my wife got me the crusader cook set, yep the nasty one with the black coating on it lol, my question is "does anyone know what steel is under the coating and is it the same as the silver one?

i am lead to believe that it is the same steel underneath but wouldnt like to say for certain so i will let some one else tell u for sure but i am eighty percent certain it is

Stainless steel.So, totally safe.

Yes you can cos I did it to mine but mines now black with soot stains

I heard somewhere that the 'teflon' coating is actually high temperature paint... The black ones I've had certainly didn't look like any teflon coating I've seen before..

I know what PTFE is - we often have machined parts sent off to be plated with it..

it has a slippery feel to the surface - something the Crusader mug doesn't have

I would think that if the manufacturers list it as PTFE, then it's a pretty safe bet that it is PTFE.
