It does limit things but its just a bit of fun, been very successful the last few years and I for one probably wouldn't bother if it was just a matter of spending more money at christmas with no sentiment or thought. It gives us a chance to practice our skills or try something new, get out the every day routine and do something different. I would rather recieve a wonky wooden spoon that someone had taken the time and effort to make than a cheap piece of plastic tat because thats all their their budget could stretch to. Lets face it, if the limit was, say £5, there isn't much bushcrafty stuff out there for less than that unless we all want a plastic spork.

I'm not a particularly great craftsman, I do like to make the odd thing - wood, metal, plaster, plastic, I'll have a go at anything. If someone can get a little use or even enjoyment from something I've made then it's all good. People appear to have liked what I've given so far.

I think it's pretty much up to you, if you want folks to know crack on. Although for me personally it's the whole mystic and excitement of not knowing...

There is the christmas brantub for those that wish to purchase something and send it, this is the "Crafty Secret Santa" and therefore gifts must be crafted, its a way of practicing skills and passing something on to someone that you have spent time and effort to create, in all honesty its not actually about the end result (although there have been some fantastic things created over the last few years) its more about gifting someone that effort.

Dont post pics of what you are making as that will spoil the surprise on Xmas morning. Feel free to post pics of what you have received by all means and again feel free to have a guess who has made what.

Like others have said this has been running for about 4 years now, and those that have partook on the whole have found it a really good event to be involved with.

I look forward to seeing what everyone gets
