Couple of axe sheaths I made recently.
One is for a Hultafors 850g chopping axe, the other is for my new Stefan Ronnqvist viking axe. :viking:
Its 4mm veg tan. Very stiff and nice.
The axe in the background is a 4.5lb elwell, which I've just been restoring. I'll be making a full coverage pack saddle type sheath for that. Like they use on horseback/mules in the States. With buckles and straps.
They are sitting on top a log of english elm which I'll be splitting and carving to make the curved handle for the Stefan Ronnqvist axe.
This is what the elwell looked like before I began restoring it. :yikes:
It had sat in the back of my Grandads wood shed for probably fifty years.:viking:
