Does anyone know where i can get a large quantity of cotton canvas suitable for making a yurt, it is going to be either 10 or 12ft diameter so i am guessing at between 20 and 30 sq m. Something fairly cheap would be good, i have been looking at ex army shelters but havent found anything that is particularly cheap.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Are they not using felt for their yurts and a very light raincover over that? Anyhow I have a adress to a guy selling heavy canvas for tipis. If you buy min 35 m the price is 70 SEK a meter if I remember right they are laying 165 cm broad. One the link you have to click the "prislista" link to the page. I am sure they talk english if you give them a call. I talked with the guy before and he was very nice.
I believe its a very good price.

hello:)
there are plenty of tipi and yurt manufacturers in th uk so it might be worth emailing a few and see if any are nice enough to recommend a supplier, there's a list of a few here..

It might also be worth trying sailmakers or marine textile suppliers as they supply various types of canvas, here's one that looks quite promising..

these might be worth a look aswell..

Hi Guys

Thanks very much for all the suggestions there are alot there that look promising, i hadnt thought on asking Yurt makers who they use but that might be worth a try.
Yes Abbe they usually use felt but i think that might cost quite a bit and i have heard that you can use blanks to insulate although i am just going to be using it as a workshop in the back garden with a wood burner inside so i dont think i will need to insulate it that much.
Many thanks again for all your suggestions

Cheers

Michael
