My eleventh Christmas alone. Since I lost my family. Tho I'm going to visit friends on boxing day.
I tend to burrow down under my quilt with some good books , the radio, and nice nibbles. Main meal will be something simple. Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or prawns. Havnt decided which yet. Other than that Christmas is avoided as much as possible. I just don't have the heart for it. For a few years I accepted kind invites, but I always felt uncomfortable being the only non family member. I just don't do Xmas anymore, bar a few cards and presents to those who have shown kindness and friendship over the last year.
Christmas has sadly lost all its magic for me.

Usually cold and warm smoked salmon, matjes pickled herring, skagen röra (sallad with prawns, onion, dill, mayonnaise). Hovmästarsås (cold sauce made of sugar, dill, mustard, vinegar, salt pepper, oil), goes with all kind of fish dishes. Potatoes and/or sweet malt bread.

I'm going to see the Jersey Boys tonight at our local town hall. Should be a good night.
That's as christmassy as I get!

Usually see Nutcracker Ballet live screened. No new production this year (recording for addicts!) Saw Cinderella last weekend instead. Christmas enough. I don’t do popcorn so had a lump of Christmas cake.

Funnily enough, I have no cake, as I'm gluten free. But I do have two packs of butterkist popcorn for a treat, and often make my own.
Try melting some chocolate, or a Mars bar with butter, throw in the corn and wait for the pops. Decadent, naughty, but delicious!

Yes, it can be a hard time of year when you've lost people. I'll always raise a glass to those that have gone on.
I can understand losing heart with it, so I'll wish you a happy winter solstice instead.
