As I have written before my 2 older Grandchildren were given Mora carbon steel companions as they reached 7 years old, their mother my daughter had a Ka-Bar at 7 years and like the grand children was taught to use/treat blades/sharp tools with respect (and under supervision) I also gave my grand son a 1 lb Kent pattern axe, he then passed it to his younger sister & I gave him a 1.5 lb with a much longer handle. My other grand son is 2 when he was born I bought him a Carbon Mora Companion when his mother my other daughter tells me he is ready he will be given it.
