FIERCE . A grand job you've made of showing off some of nature's hidden beauty. Thanks for showing them.

That looks awesome, never saw the hotwaxing technique on wood being put to use before, but it sure sounds like a good idea!
Will try that myself some time
Yours sincerely Ruud

Superb work, and quick too.

Is that a GB Hand Hatchet with a reprofiled edge I saw there?

Mine is convex and I am clueless about sharpening it.

VERY nice Chas. Lovely looking piece of whittling that, well done!

Did the woodspirit CrosslandKelly carved at the Moot ever show up on here? I got the other half of the log he split and started my own, but I had to leave it behind in my Mother's garden, simply not enough room to wedge it in the car to bring back here with me.

hope things are going well with the new home :)

Thanks for the link Chas. REALLY like those owls especially!

Yeah, got home safely. This past week has seen me busy working on clearing space in the garden to site the cabin. My cunning plan is to build a 5m x 3m cabin to live in while I restore the house, gives me some place clean to go and sleep in at night. Seeing the cabin porn thread is making me revise certain ideas I had in favour of something a trifle more ambitious! It'd be rude not to try something a bit different. Hehehehheee

Sounds very cool, cabin porn gives plenty of inspiration
I also have visions of steampunk influence, and woodspirits on the door frames :lmao:
The owls were courtesy of sitting in on a carving lesson that Neil was giving to the kids at Forgewood Campsite
Good luck with the cabin

Hi Stringmaker

It is the Kubben Hand Hatchet and has been slightly re-profiled over a period of time by sharpening using the Gransfors Axe stone.
The link below takes you to a good axe sharpening tutorial by British Red

Not so sure about the Steampunk aspect, but certainly woodspirits and windchimes will be featured.

Yesterday I went off to a huge warehouse near me and priced up some shop seconds and 2nd hand double-glazed windows. I can pick them up for anything £30 - £150. Very impressed with those prices given how much they cost if you were to have them fitted.

So much inspiration for that cabin porn website. I'm saving so many of the pictures!
