Cane Bow and Arrows

Not sure if this lives here but , I saw this tutorial on youtube and thought I would have a go, and here it is it cost me £3 for the canes £2 for the cord (to bind the canes). to string the bow i used cotton tread (free) to make a bow string (you tubed again to find out how to make one.) some innertube(free) to protect the string from the sharp cane. the arrows made from some more canes, the arrow heads made from the pull off lids of our dog food tins(free) folded into 8ths and bound on to the cane with more cotton thread. the fletchings made using yet more cotton thread and some swan and goose feathers picked up around a boating pond not far from one of my brothers house, and fletched as properly as I could. I think this was about a 40-50lb bow but without weighing that could be way off but I felt it was strong enough have hunted with it if i had to and it was robust.

that looks awesome! very "zombie apocalypse". But wont the bamboo cane after a while retain that "D" shape even when unstrung and thus lose a lot of its power? I'm no expert this is more of a question for my personal gain...because if not... I'm definitely making one! the arrows are great as well!

Very good idea. Maybe you should use more cane in the center where the handle is, and less in the end of the limbs. That way, it would bent evenly, rather than just near the handle.

I think they are called bundle bows too? One trick for weighing the bow is to use a set of bathroom scales. Place a stick under the bows handle with the other end on the scales on the floor. Pull down on the string and it will give you a rough idea.
Does look like its doing all its bending in the middle but I know nawt about these types of bows.
Certainly looks like it would get the job done though, nice ;)
