Its very nice but it needs a wider base.

Otherwise you will knock it over, which is a time honoured way to start a fire

I know. The base is actually from a separate piece. Had to pin iland glue it then re turn just to get it to stand up. 😄 just practice really.

That's really nice :D Shapely and very appealling.

If it is too light, you could just hollow out the base a bit and fit in a lead plug….the weights that are used to balance car wheels are pretty good too.

Cheers guys. The main shaft is some plum that has been in the wood store for about 2 year. The base is a piece of oak. Finish is good old linseed. Im going to get some shellac at some point. It was done on a ferm lathe(electric).

Good stuff!

Theres no reason you can't attach a even wider base to it when you've got a suitable bit of wood to turn, if you want. I've got to do the same for a stick I turned a fair while back, oops!

Nice work.

Be very careful about letting the candle burn right down. Over time, wax will impregnate the dry wood - if the candle burns down to the wood, it will go up like a flamethrower.

Nice work , I agree with the others that to make it safer it could do with a wider base but as long as your careful with it then its fine.
Good luck on other projects I will be looking forward to seeing them
