Can anyone identify this animal sound please

My guess is that its a bird of some description , but I don't know for sure .

So can you tell what it is ?

Right at the start , the very first sound ( is not so screeching but more of a purr or something...)

Also around the 9 seconds mark it happens again

Weird and wonderful at the same time , it would be great to find out what makes this sound and why ...

And don't give me the whole beast or black dog stories... we're nowhere near Bodmin here....
The only wild feral beasts around here are the natives ...

Yeah, I don't think Owl is right but I can imagine having heard it before. It's nagging in my head what that memory is.

I've just searched the muntjac sounds , and I can only find a bark , which doesn't match however the fox sound is close ...

Maybe a young muntjac in distress. The purring sound may be what's causing the distress!

I have read that you can call in a muntjac by using a blade of grass between the thumbs to imitate the cry of the young.

You may of course have recorded me practicing this!
