Buying a basic bushcraft knife

Any suggestions for a basic bushcraft knife to get to grips with before I indulge n a more expensive item? I'm looking for something just to use on Scout camps and general camping, especially with the bit of bushcraft stuff I've learnt through Scouting, I've become very addicted to the idea of making as much stuff as possible of my own!

If there is not too much rust then wire wool or a brillo pad would be enough if you need to shift a bit more some fine wet and dry sandpaper. If you really want to go to town go up through the grits then polish with tcut if you want a mirror finish

i'm gonna hazard a guess (and be bloody embarrased if i get it wrong but its often hard to tell on the internet), could it be that tengu is a she not a he?
