Well done on your basecamp start build. I'm sure you'll pick away at it, make personal improvements over time.

Looks excellent. A good idea to have a dog too, easy source of good emergency food!
Do not put too much work in it, as it is a short time shelter, it will not last more than some months, maybe into autumn.

(You UK guys please note that in UK ( and Fenno Scandinavia) it is illegal to cut down living branches and trees without landowners permission.)

Looks very good.
How long before the conifer branches start shedding needles?
After snow melt, have you got good water, somewhere nearby?

Ah, but the purity of any bushcrafter is compromised with a lack of water. Try to get along without it.
Ice cubes are a bitch to make without water.

I have a bunch of those stone ice cubes which don't dilute your drink.
A few or those dark stones sunk in the bottom sludge of my glass is far from attractive.

I need 2 weeks in that base camp.

When I was GC's age I used to use similar shelters, if I could not find a pine tree with branches hanging down as cover. 2 aspects come to my mind.
The wonderful smell of the resin
Needles around your neck and in the hi when you wake up.

I need a couple of weeks there too. Not sure my back can take it anymore though.

Georgia with the fantastic mountains must be heaven for nature trips.
