I get in trouble with these singalong deals :( I was on my southpat cruise on the USCGC Southwind grooving on icebegs and penguins when the Old man sighed " nobody sings sea chanties anymore." The senior quartermaster was on the bridge and we two were known for reading nautical folklore (I even know the traditional R.N. toasts) SOOOOOOOOO, the Chief says, Kav, sing the skipper a ditty- thats an order ;) I cleared my throat and gave a dying frog rendition of The Beach Boys JohnB. " So hoist up the John B.'s sails, see how the mains'l sets and go tell the captain I want to go home. I want to go home. This is the worst trip, I've ever been on. etcetera etcetera. Hking, I usually sing the Seven dwarves song from Disney's snow White.

I feel it would have to be a purely vocal tune . Got to dig the sound of that ex-poacher guy on "Sharpe" singing "over the hills and far away" .
Or prehaps somthing a bit more tribal , The Didj ,clapsticks and drum .
Spot on if your sat round a fire in the great outdoors .
Love playing the didj , just trying to crak this circular breathing !!!

. Alone I whistle Ravel's Bolero for hours on end :)

Me too, but it's Ode to Joy to whistle. Inkubus Sukkubus' "Old Hornie" for the delight in the woodlands or, when the going gets hairy, Goddess Chant :) "Ancient Briton never hit on, anything as good as woad to sit on..." when soaked.
Cheers,

When leading groups on walks and hikes I would start humming 'We wish you a Merry Christmas', 'Jingle Bells' or 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer', without fail several members of the group would start to sing the song.;)

And, on another note, how about 'Run to the Hills' by Iron Maiden

Ooooo, someone else who knows Jethro Tull and Iron Maiden. Are we a nature loving bunch of rockers??

How about Mike Oldfields Tubular bells?
Or Guns and Roses Paradice City.

Na, Mike Oldfields Voyager album is much more bushcrafty, Tubular Bells I, II, III and Millenium Bell are all for the bath and relaxing with a glass of wine, or a large, quality single malt, at home.;)

Then there is the reverse option of bringing nature's vocals into the home. There used to be a whole set of 'Environment' albums to relax by; loons on the lake, whales singing, lightning and thunder storms. I don't know if any made the transition from vinal to CD. My favourite is The Language and music of the Wolves, narrated on one side by Robert Redford. My upstairs nieghbor had an extremely obnoxious pair of barking toy sized dogs. I love animals, but this was 24/7 and she wouldn't resolve the problem by giving them toys or exercise. So, I confess, I hooked up my stereo with the speakers near the ceiling and played the wolf album over and over at volume for 3 hours. End of problem :D

BushcraftUK Hillbillies
(To the tune of Beverly Hillbillies)

Come listen to ma' story 'bout some bushcraft folks I know
They spend time in the backwoods to make their knowledge grow,
They talk to each other about foragin' for food,
They're informative and funny and sometimes they're crude.

The BushcraftUK place is more than just for chat
It's a place for friends to meet, and to keep on coming back,
The Internet's our common ground and we're all welcome here,
So join our social gathering friend, and be of good cheer.

If you have a problem friend, don't be afraid to share,
We like to know your business, and we really, really care.
We'll give you advice and sometimes point the way,
To a website with the info that'll maybe save the day.

We're hunters and we're fishers and we forage for our grub,
From a shelter in the woods that we built from ferns and shrub.
We light our fires with wooden sticks that we twiddle round and round,
And when our arms are dropping off, we collapse on the ground.

We're trackers and we're campers and we're crackers you can bet,
We like to do the bushcraft thing any chance we get.
Be it sunny, be it snowy be it windy be it fine,
So you can stick your office job where the sun don't shine.

We're doers and we're wishers and we're dreamers and what's more,
We're proud we chose this lifestyle though it sometimes is a chore.
We're gettin' where we're goin' and we'll be there some fine day,
So jump up on the bandwagon, we'll help you find the way.

Atlantic to the North Sea, way up north to way down south,
Distance is no object when you have a virtual mouth.
So tell to all and sundry what you really want to say,
And share it here bushcrafter, now y'all have a nice day!
