Hi guys n gal's

Im new to the forum, and I'd like advise on what product to buy for making a bug net for a hammock, I guess to prevent the Midges gaining access.

if possible could you provide a link to the product?

thanks,

Ch@rlie

For £10 you could probably do something with one of these
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9280546.htm?_$ja=tsid:11527|cc:|prd:9280546|cat:sports+and+leisure+%2F+camping+%2F+other+camping+accessories+%2F

Something like a hammock sock.

I got the stuff from http://www.midgie.net/ too- for my DIY hammock. I've not stictched it in yet, but it looks ok. I looked into getting other stuff like that from army surplus mossi nets etc., but in all cases the weave was too big for midges- which i suspect would be true also for that Argos product unless someone corrects me.

I already have a mosi net, purchased from a charity shop for £1 the type you hang, that has an umbrella style spreader at the top to cover a bed or your sleeping area, I instantly thought it would be perfect to convert into a sock type of effort over the hammock, but when I checked the size of the gaps in the netting I was put off.

thanks for your reply

Another vote for midgie.net. I'm in the middle of watching Harvestwoman sew it onto my DD hammock after I got midged last summer. Tiring stuff this watching her work, I can tell you.

What sort of size Pete ? I've only got a full jacket made of the stuff and the rest has gone to Brandon for my new BB :)

Oz/sqyd or g/sqm would be good, its for a hammock bugnet, I'm on a lightweight drive. I've got some aircraft grade polyester mesh which weighs less than nanoseeum but its white.

Thanks for digging that out bud :).
That's proper light. Its even lighter than the stuff I've got, I'll order some.

Just thought I'd resurrect this post,
I went to the local Dunelm's today, while I was there I spotted a mesh with very fine and feels strong its called "Organza Voile Black" then tonight I was browsing the Hammock forums and spotted another person in the USA had also used this instead of "no see um netting" it's unit price is £1:50 the material is 60" wide, so I purchased 6 meters of it at a total of £9:00 I have just weighed the total qty I purchased and the 6m length weigh's 1lb 3oz (oh, it is polyester, first thing I checked)
I have 2 Hammocks to make nets for so when I get around to it I will let you know what I decided to do and how it performs.
