buddlia any good

Hi everyone,
just a quick question,is a budllia branch any good for a stick shaft?I found one on one of mine today,while photographing some butterflies in the afternoon sunshine.Its a two year old branch and would make a good shaft.Anyone used one?

It is very weak wood, quite often with a hollow core. You may be able to make a stick from it but I wouldn't rely on it to bear any weight.

it also makes good smoking pipe shafts

made plenty of them with budlia in the past.

I have quite a thick buddlia stem and its very strong stuff indeed and very flexible. So much so i an going to try and make a bow from it one day.
Get a thick enough stick and it would make a great staff.
