British Army Machete

I have a British Army Machete that I picked up in an army surplus shop a while back to use in the garden as a billhook type object. It never got as far as the garden. I found it again during a recent tidyup and decided to see if it was any use when out in the woods.

My conclusion was that the grind on it is c**p. Most of the blade has a shape that is barely of use as a butter knife, let alone actually chopping anything. The rest of the blade while at least going to a point, it is such a shallow wedge shape that it's very little use.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can turn this into a useful tool?

Thanks

Julia

I can't help with specifics, but search the internet for Martindale golock/golok. You will find link's to threads on various forums of people who have gone mods. I spent time with a belt sander and ended up with a sort of convex edge that seems to work a bit. I intend spending more time on it at some point though.
