I buy granulated dry yeast in the largest (225g) jars available. Very consistent activity.
We used a lot of yeast in 454g/1lb bricks at work. I have no desire to mess with that at home.
We've got bread machine yeast and also pizza yeast which I don't need to use.
People who bake a lot buy the big jars and thus it's probably more viable than the little single-use packets.
Never buy flour in less than the 10kg bags, unless it's on sale and I buy 2 at a time.

I think that everybody should have a go at baking bread. Keep it simple.
2.5C warm water & 4 tsp yeast. I feed the yeastie-beasties 2 tbs brown sugar.
Add 2tbs melted butter to control gluten chain length. 2 tsp salt for the same reason.
Mix in the 800g (5C) flour, knead that dough, let it rise maybe 2X, bake.
