Can I ask advice please about the best season of the year to harvest brambles. I have got this mad idea to attempt to weave a chair seat from bramble laces. I often see them like an inch or more thick and 20 foot long....I watched the Jack hargreaves dvd of the skep maker who used bramble laces to weave the straw bee skeps. He aparently soaked the brambles in brine to toughen them, does any one know any more about this sort of thing? What else can be done to make the brambles durable and tough? (I also had another mad idea to grow willow on the alotment but thats another story......)
