You need one or more cylindrical mandrels that match/ a little smaller the curved sweep of the bevel edge.
Wrap the W&D on the rod, tack it down with wraps of masking tape at each end and pull strokes straight out which match the selected bevel angle.
Ought to measure that to see what you bought. I do all 3 of mine at 25 degrees, my 2 carving mallets are the right sizes for mandrels!
I still paint a bunch of stripes of black felt marker on the bevel to monitor the result.
