I stored mine horizontally in the Garage. Not ideal as there is extremes of temperature. If it was a precious bow that sees year long use i would aim for an unheated but insulated room that could be kept as near to the same humidity year round.

Wooden bows lose quite a bit of draw weight the hotter it is and can become brittle in extreme cold. A happy medium is somewhere in the middle.

A good moisture resistant coating such as wax is a good place to start. Just try to avoid extremes of temperature and humidity.
All of mine are hung on a wall in an upstairs room indoors. Horizontal and supported is also best. Never stood up in the corner of a room.
My bow "rack" is two pieces of string secured by two D-rings in the ceiling next to the wall. I then tie loops in the string every foot or so all the way down to the floor.
This gives me two hoops to support several bows.
