I have been on walkabout in the loosest sense for the last few months (hence the lack of questions ;) ). A man I met called Robert - a ghillie - said that he uses bone and birch paste to strop his tools, I was wondering how this might be achieved and if anybody had heard of any other methods of stropping knives in the bush?

Thanks or your time,
Kind regards.

I've seen one method used.. starts with crushing up quartz rock found near the beach, powdering it with a big rock and adding water to make a paste then applying to a stick..then used to sharpen knives like a diamond rod. Tried it though, doesn't work too well.
