Albus, i did have concerns about that myself, but the blackwood is a hard tough wood. It should be ok :)

Haha no pressure! so here goes!.. I fancied a new knife that was a bit more rustic/traditional and without a scandi grind (I already have a few) and As random as this is going to sound, the idea stemmed from watching Pirates of the Caribbean, the one where will meets and is given a knife by his father. you never really see that knife properly and it got me thinking of what kind of knife it would likely be! and so I hit tinterweb for some ideas and came across http://www.sheffieldknives.co.uk/acatalog/5-100.html
and this http://www.the-knife-connection.com/blind-horse-knives--boat-tail-scandi.html . my design came from the amalgamation of the two with a few images in my head and some ideas from HillBill! What i could not imagine was how fantastic Mark would make the knife from my crude sketch!
