It's by an American ex-serviceman with an interest in military field rations.
His blog covers historic recipes, mess equipment and cooking techniques, it's a cracking read.

I'm interested in field rations/cooking and I've got the 1916 Red Cross field manual, when I get the chance I'll scan some of the photo's and diagrams from it and post them here.
